WHO IS OINGO BOINGO?

Oingo Boingo actually started out as a surrealist theatre troupe called The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo! the troupe was led by Richard Elfman in the early 1970s, before he left the group and passed the torch to his younger brother, Danny Elfman (yes, that Danny Elfman) and the group pivoted in a more musical direction, becoming an eight-piece band by the late 1979. they rebranded as 'Oingo Boingo' and released a self-titled EP in 1980, containing the songs 'Only A Lad', 'Violent Love', 'Ain't This The Life' and 'I'm So Bad'. though generally considered to be a new wave band, their sound pulls from ska, jazz, punk, art-rock, and a variety of other sources, resulting in a pretty unique identity. the band had a ton of different members before dispanding in 1995, but Danny Elfman, Sluggo Phipps, Dale Turner, Steve Bartek and John 'Vatos' Hernandez were the core five, involved in every record. they've done music for multiple movies, like Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Weird Science.

MY HISTORY WITH OINGO BOINGO

i had The Corpse Bride on DVD as a kid (still have it, in fact!) and watched it religiously. while it wasn't Oingo Boingo, 'Remains of the Day' was written and preformed by Danny Elfman and had a very similar upbeat, ska-type sound i fell in love with. i was always into weird, creepy and kooky stuff as a kid and Oingo Boingo fit the vibe perfectly, with songs like 'Dead or Alive', 'Whole Day Off' and 'Help Me'. i named the listing 'Good For Your Soul' because thats the album my favourite Oingo Boingo song is off of- 'Who Do You Want To Be'!

i'm gonna take this opportunity to list some of my favourite Oingo Boingo songs!
