UH . . . WHAT IS A FANLISTING?
basically a fanlisting is an online list of fans of a subject- this subject can be anything, like a movie/tv show, an object, a colour, a hobby or even just a concept. they began in the early days of the internet to help people with similar interests find each other before social media, algorithms and hashtags became a thing and made it easier to bump into minded individuals on the internet.

WHY DID YOU GET INTO THIS STUFF?
i love fanlistings because i'm a deeply nostalgic person, and i'm also autistic and love collecting things and making lists- especially pertaining to my interests! i find the process of maintaining the collective and listings calming, and they're sort of like my virtual button collection- i have a HUGE button collection irl! i started joining fanlistings for those reasons, but i started maintaining fanlistings cos some of the listings i wanted to join just didn't exist when i went looking.
